Anzu Daifuku, 160 yen

Sho-an first opened its doors in 1997. But while they may not have the same long history as some of the other shops in this article, their brilliant range of original, sophisticated sweets and cakes has won them a lot of fans. Top of the list, though, is the anzu daifuku. The slight acidity of the dried apricot inside it is balanced by the light flavour of the sweet red beans it is paired with, and when you bite into the daifuku they combine together deliciously into a very distinctive and unforgettable taste. Sho-an is located on Meiji-dori, between Hiroo and Ebisu.
