Mingus Big Band

Thu Aug 30 - Sun Sep 2, 2012 Blue Note Tokyo

Time Out says

Although it's been over three decades since Charles Mingus boogie stop shuffled off this mortal coil, his legacy remains in vibrant health, thanks to the efforts of this ever-shifting ensemble overseen by the bassist and composer's widow, Sue. The Mingus Big Band returns to Tokyo Blue Note for the first time since cutting their Grammy-nominated live album there in 2005, to commemorate – and celebrate – the 90th anniversary of their spiritual godfather's birth.
