An enduring fixture on the Japanese music scene for over three decades, jazz pianist and singer Akiko Yano has most recently been plying her trade in a trio with bassist Will Lee and drummer Chris Parker. The group featured heavily on Yano's recently released live compilation, Kouya no Yobigoe – Tokyo Rokuon, where the selections ranged from originals to Okinawan folk songs and a Kinks cover. Expect something similarly eclectic when they return to the Blue Note this month.
