The Okachimachi area is known for its many colourful eateries, but this Indian joint serving 100% vegetarian cuisine from both north and south India shoots right to the top of the pack. Located a quick walk from Naka-Okachimachi Station, the two-storey Veg Kitchen looks and feels much like your standard curry eatery, but the food is very much out of the ordinary: their most popular dish is the masala dosa (¥1,000), a filled pancake served with curry, coconut milk-based sauce and tomato, while the authentic snacks like pani puri and desserts such as gajar halwa (a sweet carrot pudding) are flavourful and tasty. Note to vegans: Veg Kitchen also serves some of the best Jain cuisine (vegetarian, no dairy, onion or garlic) in Tokyo, so make sure to check it out when you have a chance.
