Founded in Aichi in 1981, Taketei specialises in duck shabu-shabu, a true rarity in Tokyo. This Akasaka eatery is their only Tokyo location and remains popular among carnivores in the know looking for some variety. Their signature dish consists of fresh domestic duck, served with vegetables like leek, moyashi sprouts and parsley in a broth soup, while other popular choices include duck steak and meaty salads. Note that the shop is open for lunch only on Tuesdays and Thursdays, when customers can try the duck ramen, another well-loved dish that's worth the slightly steep price. Reservations are taken for both lunch and dinner, so make sure to call ahead before going duck-hunting.
