Restaurants & Cafés

Review

One of this year's most intriguing new restaurant openings comes just as we were about to declare 2011 a write-off. R2 Supperclub is the latest venture by the expat team behind Omotesando hotspot Two Rooms, and will likely cause a similar amount of buzz. Not to be confused with the home-cooking 'supper club' trend that's taken London by storm over the past few years, the model here is the social clubs of '30s New York: sophisticated oases of good food, cigars, cocktails and live jazz. The food menu runs from Middle Eastern mezze to fish and chips with a Japanese-style yuzu and black pepper tartare sauce, while martinis, fresh fruit daiquiris and caipirinhas feature heavily in the drink lineup.

Wouldn't recommend this place. In a rough part of town, with aggresive touts everywhere. Drinks and food well overpriced and nowhere to sit if you order dinner. Looks like quite a few "hostesses" work there too.
