Review

There are plenty of juice and smoothie bars popping up around town, but not all of them can claim to be 100 percent organic, and hardly any of them give you an extra superfood boost by adding ingredients like red maca powder, raw cacao nibs, chia seeds and almond milk. Cosme Kitchen Juicery, which you'll find just beyond the ticket gates at Daikanyama Station, opened in April 2014 and offers an all-round organic and ecofriendly experience, right down to the 'plastic' cups, which are in fact made from plant material, and the straws, which are made from paper. Even the ink used on the labelling is made from soy.

The menu reads almost like a spa treatment list with superfood smoothies and cold-pressed juices specifically designed to combat ageing, assist with weightloss, help cleanse toxins from your system and improve skin condition. We'd recommend everything on the menu, but for starters, try out the 'Yes! Beauty Weekend' smoothie, from ¥680 (camu camu powder, chia seeds, noni juice, spinach and more) and the 'Cleanse Salad' cold-pressed juice, ¥680 (raw spirulina, lettuce, cucumber, grapefruit and more). They also have a 'Banana Cacao Soymilk' option for those with a sweet tooth, and for any of the smoothies that come with soy milk, you can ask for almond milk or rice milk instead. You also have the option of creating your own recipe by selecting ingredients from the 'customize menu'.

While you're there, stock up on your own superfood supplements for home – the juicery sells all the products it uses on the menu, including extra virgin coconut oil, goji berries, cacao powder and acai powder. We also noticed they sell coconut water and Udo's Oil Blend, which is a fantastic blend of oils such as flax seed, sesame seed, coconut, evening primrose and more.

The ecofriendly cherry on top? If you take along your own cup, you get to add one 'Superfood Boost 1' to your smoothie or juice for free.
