Review

Housed in the same building as Roppongi tequila bar Agave, La Cocina Gabriela Mexicana bills itself as Japan's first restaurant to specialise in food from the state of Jalisco. You'll need to be a dedicated carnivore to get the most out of what's on offer here. Hearth-grilled carne asada, cabrito and cerdo asada – all of it moist and wonderfully aromatic – are the star attractions, best eaten with coriander in a tortilla wrap. You can also try some chicharones (fried pork rinds) and Guadalajara-style marinated prickly pear, washed down with Mexican or South American wine.
