Review

Keeping it simple with the menu, this always-popular eatery just outside Ochanomizu Station serves only beer and a few modest side dishes in addition to the protagonist, a masterful butadon (grilled pork over rice). Topped with flavourful, thick slabs of meat grilled over charcoal and seasoned with a sweet but spicy sauce, their bestseller is available in three sizes – small, medium and large – with only truly ravenous eaters advised to go for the biggest option. Our only gripe is that the meal experience sure could be a little more comfortable – the counter seating is fine by itself, but the smoke emanating from the kitchen tends to get a little annoying after a while.
