This long-standing restaurant has been staking out a spot near Ningyocho Station since 1953, and its original (and much-loved) proprietress still watches over the oden as it stews. The soup has a bonito base, an amber colour and a slightly sweet flavour – and as you’d expect from such a stalwart, Minafuku offers a good selection of stewed oden items, including all the usual favourites. In addition to ordering à la carte, there’s also a number of set options, including ‘omakase’ (leave it to us) and ‘zenshurui’ (one of everything). Just don’t expect to get settled in – Minafuku only does takeaway.
