Established in 1931, this is a pioneering Western-style restaurant. The ground floor serves a traditional Western menu, and on the first floor, more upmarket food is offered on small a la carte and set menus. Their specialities are mild curry, coleslaw and borsch. The latter two are perfect as side dishes, and have been served for just 50 yen ever since the restaurant opened. The chicken fried rice topped with soft-centred omelette, named tampopo omurice, was inspired by the film ‘Tampopo’, directed by the late Juzo Itami.
