When anyone mentions Kyoto cuisine, one of the first places most people think of is Kikunoi, a renowned and long-established Japanese restaurant, which has now opened a branch in Tokyo. The bamboo-lined entrance to the restaurant is an evocative way to start an evening. Yoshihiro Murata is the third-generation owner of the restaurant, and the restaurant’s dedication to tradition is apparent through the delicacy of the food and the perfect service. It’s hardly surprising that the Michelin Tokyo Guide 2009 awarded Kikunoi two stars.
