From pizza to noodles, Tokyo has seen a proliferation recently of 'cheap eats' restaurants offering quality food at rock-bottom prices. Shibuya soba shop Sagatani – which opened in late 2011, not far from Don Qujiote – is a good example: they may only charge ¥280 for a serving of basic mori soba here, but those noodles are made with 100 percent buckwheat flour, ground in-store using a traditional stone mortar. Better yet, they stay open 24 hours a day. Choose between thick or thin noodles, complemented with all-you-can-eat wakame seaweed, and start slurping.
