The annual Finland Fest is an exercise in contrasts: while a battalion of Nordic metal acts are raging away at Liquidroom on Saturday evening, you can expect something altogether less abrasive at the 'world music' component of the event. Fiddler Arto Järvelä, accordionist Maria Kalaniemi and pianist Timo Alakotila – all highly regarded figures on the Finnish folk scene – will be supplying the music, and it's bound to sound all the sweeter once you've downed the complimentary glass of August Beer offered as a welcome drink to all ticket holders.
