New Year's Eve Party - Countdown to 2014


Where: Sound Museum Vision
Vision's New Year's party is back for the third time since the club first opened at Shibuya's Dogenzaka in October 2011. The impressive lineup is led by electro house champion Surkin and French electro phenomenon Canblaster, who will be joined by an all-star cast of Tokyo-based electro artists including Shinichi Osawa and 80kidz. Ring in the new year on the dance floor at the biggest live house in Shibuya. Read more

Countdown Japan 13/14


Where: Makuhari Messe
Chiba's Makuhari Messe again hosts its annual Countdown Japan, a four-day music fest running from December 28 to New Year's Eve. The all-star lineup consists of big names like Tamio Okuda, Kyary Pamyu Pamyu, Denki Group, Rip Slime, Sakana Cushion, Bump of Chicken, Elephant Kashimashi, and Motoharu Sano, plus up-and-comers including Passepied, Kataomoi, Group_inou, Cero, and Tofubeats. This beefy feast features over 160 artists in total, so there's bound to be something for everyone at Tokyo's biggest year-end bonanza. Read more

Air Countdown to 2014


Where: Air
Daikanyama's Air, one of Tokyo's top clubs and host to countless music events, always throws a great countdown party. Count on house master DJ Emma to bring it and to ring in 2014 in style - partygoers can also savour a tasty face-off between the King of House and techno god Ken Ishii, who will be back for the countdown again this year. Ageha Countdown 2014


Where: AgeHa
This party marks the 11th birthday of mega-club ageHa, and the lineup's certainly up to the occasion: revellers can live it up to the tunes of Rock Unit, Boom Boom Satellites, DJ Kentaro, and DJ Kaori. There will also be a New Year's Day show at Water, the outdoor space associated with the club, and eager shoppers can even buy official ageHa 'lucky bags' between December 27 and January 12. The wildest and longest year-end party will be back at Liquidroom again this year. Extended sets by Takkyu Ishino and Fumiya Tanaka have become annual affairs, and this edition sees Nobu and Yoshinori Sunahara joining in on the action as well. There are even rumours about a super secret guest - who could that be? Dommune, led by Naohiro Ukawa, will take the helm at a special party upstairs at Liquid Loft. Kabukicho Dynamite Rock 2013-14


Where: Shinjuku Loft
Shinjuku's Loft, longtime supporter of Tokyo's underground scene, will host a punk-focused New Year's Eve featuring headliner Yanagiya Mutsumi Ichiza, led by Battle of Ninjamanz vocalist Mutsumi Yanagiya, punk rockers Gendou Missile, and other interesting bands that have been lighting up the indie punk scene recently. Looking to steer clear of the mainstream on New Year's Eve? Nakameguro club Solfa's countdown party will feature some quality club music presented by DJs like Metamorphose, plus a live performance by Sauce81, hot off the Japanese festival circuit, who will be joined by hip-hop keyboardist Natsuhiko Muraoka. Club Asia Countdown to 2014

Shibuya's Club Asia will bring the spectacle for New Year's Eve. In addition to its regular DJs, the party will feature a crew of special guests who'll help you count down to 2014.
