The residents of Oji flock to this superb bakery from early morning, coming to shop for the tasty goodies that range from orthodox baguettes to curiosities like black sugar-flavoured soy milk doughnuts.Very modest and allergic to the kind of boulangerie snobbery so common in Tokyo these days, they continue to turn out fresh bread throughout the day and regularly update the selection with new creations. There’s a small eat-in counter along one of the walls and drinks like basic coffee and juice are available. If Loin Montagne isn’t the best independent bakery in Tokyo, it surely isn’t far off the pace.
