Winter Bell course, Tribeks

Winter bells
Over at the Hotel Century Southern Tower in Yoyogi, two tasty looking menus tackle the Yule theme well, though the gobble bird is, again, sadly lacking. We like the look of the ever so slightly cheaper Winter Bell course, which kicks things off with a French seasonal chicken terrine and liver moose, before launching into a menu that includes a wagyu and lamb roast. If that doesn’t strike you as sufficiently merry, the white chocolate moose served to look like Santa’s cap will have your cheeks rosy in no time.
Winter Bells Christmas Dinner. 8,000 yen per person (before tax). 5.30pm-10pm, December 22-25. Tribeks, Hotel Century Southern Tower, Yoyogi, Shibuya-Ku (03 5354 2177)
Big birds at reasonable prices
You can trust good old Gordon Ramsay to get the British Christmas dinner just right, so if you have a pining for spiced parsnip soup, roast turkey and chipolata sausages wrapped in bacon, cranberry sauce and roast gravy, let the fiery Scotsman be your culinary Papa Noel. Best of all, the whole thing, including the mouth-watering plum pudding with brandy custard, comes in at a surprisingly cheap 6,800 yen per person (though the dinner sittings are vastly more costly). Ramsay to the rescue!
Gordon Ramsay’s Perfect Christmas Lunch. 6,800 yen per person. 22-25 December. Cerise by Gordon Ramsay, Conrad Tokyo, Higashi Shinbashi, Minato-Ku (03 6388 8000)
Christmas dinner, Brit pub style
One word, Brit readers: Eggnog. Sure, they’ve got champagne on offer, but anyone who grew up on Christmas classics such as Box of Delights will know that there’s no substitute. Other than that, it’s soup of the day, turkey (and really top-notch tatties) and plenty of brandy buttered pudding. Two sittings, one day only. Book it while you can.
Xmas Feast. 5,000 yen per person. First seating 2pm, December 25. Meguro Tavern, Shimo-Meguro, Meguro-Ku (03 3779 0280)
