Review

This small café and restaurant, found right by Nanou Park in Shinbashi, opened in July 2014 and serves basic but carefully prepared Japanese home cooking. The place is especially popular around lunchtime, when customers can choose from three daily teishoku specials. Sizes are large enough to satisfy without leaving you weighed down afterward, so paying less than ¥1,000 for a meal like this feels very reasonable. We also enjoyed the excellent coffee on offer, which is provided by Karuizawa's famed Maruyama. A more modernist, veg-focused menu takes over at dinner, while Wi-Fi and electric outlets are always available for use. As a whole, Himachi is a very welcome addition to the less-than-diverse Shinbashi lunch scene.
