Renowned meat supplier Yazawa, the company behind Ebisu burger joint Blacows, recently opened this Toranomon noodle shop specialising in nikusoba (buckwheat noodles served with fried beef and veg). Their signature dish (¥850) is a well-balanced mixture of medium-thick, firm noodles, quality ground beef with a hint of sweetness, and a hearty serving of flavourful green onion. The dish can be upgraded to a larger size for no extra cost – certainly recommended for big eaters, as the standard-sized bowl left us only moderately satisfied. If you're looking for a more varied set of flavours, try the mazesoba (also ¥850) with egg, peppers and cheese added to the mix.
Note that Nikusoba Gon is only open 11.30am-5pm (Mon-Sat) for now, and will go over to regular opening hours in autumn 2014.
