Review

The redevelopment of the Marunouchi area isn't showing any signs of slowing down. Following Tokyo Station's impressive facelift, the newly constructed Japan Post Tower – a 200m structure that incorporates parts of the 1933 Tokyo Central Post Office building – opened for business on March 21. Much like the nearby Marunouchi, Shin-Marunouchi and Oazo buildings, the lower floors are home to a panoply of shops and restaurants – nearly 100 in total, with a focus on Japanese aesthetics and cuisine. The wedge-shaped Kitte complex has a bright, central atrium that rises up to an outdoor garden on the 6th floor, and is connected to Tokyo Station by an underground tunnel; head to the basement to find the ‘Tokyo City i’ tourist information centre.
