Review

On a back street at the end of a Shirokane shopping arcade that's well past its prime, you'll find this superior pizzeria and Italian restaurant. Though Tarantella da Luigi opened in 2011, the interior already has a cosy, lived-in feel, with table seating and a counter running along the open kitchen (the oven itself is built into the wall by the entrance). The pizzas are consistently good, with firm crusts, light, slightly charred cornicione and well balanced toppings; try the crescent-shaped Luna Rossa (topped with ricotta, pecorino and salami) if you're looking for something different, or the ¥500 marinara if you're looking for something cheap. Unusually for a specialist pizzeria, though, the rest of the menu is up to a similar standard, with obvious care paid to the quality of the ingredients.
