Go for the coffee, stay for the stationery. Housed in a basement on the narrow shopping street that runs between Omotesando and Gaien-nishi Dori, Bunbougu Cafe plays a number of different roles: coffee shop, bar, library, stationery vendor. It lends itself equally well to lunches (with sets from ¥950) and after-work drinks, when you can take your pick from a range of cocktails and a short list of affordable Italian and Argentinian wines. But the most novel touch is the membership scheme: pay a one-off ¥700 fee and you'll be given a master key to the drawers in the tables, which contain stationery from Japan and overseas that you can use while enjoying your drink.
