This tiny, eight-seat bar on the outskirts of Shibuya is a true original, which lends itself equally well to lazy lunches and evening boozing. Open from noon until 11.30pm, Los Barbados serves a diverse – and vegetarian-friendly – menu of African and Middle Eastern food, including falafel, cous cous, meze and brik (a Tunisian deep-fried pastry). The drink selection runs from draught Heineken and wine to a decent lineup of rums, accompanied by a soundtrack of Afrobeat, calypso and all points in between. You'd be hard pressed to find another bar in Shibuya that manages to do so many things so well – and especially not one this small.
