It was the offer of a series of gigs in Japan that inspired former Earth, Wind & Fire guitarist Al McKay to form his own Allstars band in 1990, and he's had a receptive audience here ever since. The disco axeman of choice heads to Billboard Live in the run-up to New Year, culminating in a sold-out countdown gig on December 31.
