Review

Toraya is the most well-known name in wagashi (Japanese confectionery) in Japan with a history dating back to the late sixteenth century when the business first opened in Kyoto. This Toraya branch comprises a shop selling fresh confectionery, a café and a gallery, giving it a significantly larger range of products than other Toraya shops. Also available are items themed on wagashi including furoshiki (Japanese wrapping cloth), dishes and chopsticks, handmade Japanese paper and stationery. Toraya Tokyo Midtown has its own special range of furoshiki which take their designs from the colours and shapes of sweet bean jellies, with one design available each season. The seasonal wagashi make for popular souvenirs.
