Though he spent the first five years of his career churning out razor-sharp revisions of tracks by the likes of Grace Jones and Womack & Womack, Wolverhampton kid Mark E announced in 2009 that he was ditching the edits in order to focus on original production instead. The results – documented on last year's Stone Breaker album and releases on his own Merc imprint – carry echoes of deep disco, Chicago house and early techno, served at tempos that won't get you knackered too quickly.
