There can't have been many people baying for these anarchic late-'90s digital noiseniks to get back together again – for all their reputation as a blistering live act, Atari Teenage Riot seemed like a throwback to an age where popular protest actually made a difference, and drill'n'bass beats were still considered cutting-edge. Any such misgivings were thoroughly crushed by the trio's performance at this year's Fuji Rock Festival, which turned out be one of the highlights of the whole event. Alec Empire is the only original member in this new ATR, with CX Kidtronik replacing the late Carl Crack and Nic Endo taking over from Hanin Elias, whose vocal cords never recovered from her digital hardcore heyday. Should be ass-kicking.
