Denver Premium Takadanobaba

Tokyo has seen a slew of upscale steakhouse openings over 2014, with the aged beef craze providing yet another boost to the city's numerous and influential carnivore population. Mostly American imports or local imitators, these shiny new joints certainly offer quality, but at prices hefty enough to make even the most dedicated connoisseur think twice. Luckily enough, savouring premium product doesn't have to come with a premium price tag, even at a newly opened steakhouse: Takadanobaba is the next stomping ground for the cheerily faux-US Denver Premium, originally based in Shinjuku. In addition to standard sirloin and prime rib, they serve American Black Angus cuts from under ¥2,000. The highly unassuming interior and gyudon shop-like atmosphere (especially around lunch) certainly detract from the experience, but if the meat is your main concern, this one merits a trip.
