Ginza Enji

Restaurants & Cafés

Review

The restaurant is popular for its smoked food made at its own factory in Karuizawa. The small restaurant has only 26 seats, and has the dignified atmosphere of a chic bar. Its speciality is smoked dishes, such as smoked bacon, takuan pickles and cheese, served with a glass of Scotch. At lunchtime, Ginza Enji is more like a folksy Japanese eaterie. A big favourite is rice with egg, comprising steamed rice with egg, sprinkled with smoked soy sauce, olive oil and sesame seeds, which the restaurant calls “the three steps of enjoyment”.
