Shuta Hasunuma: Soundlike

Sat Feb 9 - Sun Feb 17, 2013 Asahi Art Square

Time Out says

Best known overseas for his 2008 glitch-pop masterpiece Pop Ooga, Shuta Hasunuma isn't content with being a mere laptop musician – he prefers to perform his compositions in elaborate settings, like the only-slightly-hyperbolically named Shuta Hasunuma Philharmonic Orchestra, while also making incursions into the world of fine art. For the past year, he's been working on a series of 'Studies' at Asahi Art Square, as part of the venue's Grow Up!! Artist Project* scheme. You can see the results at this week-long show, featuring a range of media including video and sound art, installations and objets. Hasunuma will be there in person to explain his work on the opening day (8pm-9pm), and there's an additional gallery tour planned from 8pm on Tuesday, February 12.
