Debussy, Music and the Arts

Sat Jul 14 - Sun Oct 14, 2012 Bridgestone Museum of Art
Pierre-August Renoir. Yvonne et Christine Lerolle au piano. 1897-1898. Musee de l'Orangerie, Paris

Time Out says

Classical composers don't tend to make for good art exhibitions – but, if the Bridgestone Museum of Art is to be believed, Claude Debussy was different. To coincide with the 150th anniversary of the composer's birth, the museum is holding an exhibition that makes explicit the links between Debussy and the art world that he inhabited – and which sometimes directly influenced his work. Drawing on the collections of the Musée d’Orsay and Musée de l’Orangerie, the show features many of the key figures of fin-de-siècle French art, including Degas, Renoir and Manet.
