Bridgestone Museum of Art

The Bridgestone Museum is currently closed for renovations

Ishibashi Shojiro, founder of the giant Bridgestone Corporation, wheeled his private collection into this museum back in 1952. Impressionism, European modernism and Japanese Western-style paintings form the core holdings, but exhibitions can cover genres ranging from Ancient Greek to 20th-century abstraction. For a taste of what’s inside, stroll past the artworks displayed in the street-level front windows. There’s a tearoom on the first floor.
