Veteran improv rock group Altered States are promising something completely different for each of their three nights at Shinjuku jazz den Pit Inn. The first sees the core trio of guitarist Kazuhisa Uchihashi (pictured), bassist Mitsuru Nasuno and drummer Yasuhiro Yoshigaki play unadorned, before drafting in volatile noise god Keiji Haino for Friday's gig. On day three, meanwhile, they're inviting vocalists Koichi Makigami, Sizzle Ohtaka and Junko Fuchigami for some spontaneous freak-outs, with additional support from Hiroshi Okamoto (keyboard), Kumiko Takara (vibes, percussion) and Udai Shika (cello).
