Time Out says

When a gallery claims that an artist 'has been active in Western-style painting in Japan for far longer than almost anyone else', it usually smacks of hyperbole. Not so with Gyoji Nomiyama: the veteran dauber turned 90 last year. This comprehensive exhibition showcases the wide range of Nomiyama's oeuvre, from pre-war works to his 12-year stint in Europe during the '50s and '60s, and then on to the increasingly abstract pieces created during the Indian summer of his career – some of which are being exhibited for the first time.
