Time Out says

Up-and-coming artist Masahiro Usami has been working on his 'Manda-la' series for almost two decades, travelling from Hokkaido to Okinawa to photograph groups of people arranged to resemble the mandala symbols of Buddhist art. Formerly no more than a hobby, his project took new shape after the triple disaster of 2011, with Usami himself moving on to a more socially engaged form of expression. This exhibit displays around 20 of these pieces, some of which took years to complete, and also shines a light on Usami's creative process as it relates to 'human mandalas'.
