In addition to being both a discovering-ground for up-and-coming artists looking to go pro, and an art market that’s open to the general public, the Geisai events – produced by art anti-star Takashi Murakami – are also places where artists have the freedom to express themselves and exhibit all kinds of groundbreaking new ideas. The first event was held in 2002, and this year saw Geisai open for its 14th edition, Geisai #14, which took place at Tokyo Big Sight on March 14, hosted 561 exhibitors and drew a crowd of approximately 10,000 people.
Registrations are currently being taken for those who want to get in on the action by exhibiting at the next Geisai event, Geisai Taiwan #2, which is scheduled to take place in Taiwan on Sunday Nov 28, 2010.
