A recipient of this Mukojima gallery's RPS grant last year, Laura El-Tantawy started her career as a press photographer for local papers in the US before moving on to more artistic pursuits. Having also lived in Egypt and Saudi Arabia while growing up, she possesses a broad perspective and a wide range of interests, as evidenced by this exhibit on Indian farmers struggling with land dispossession and thoughts of suicide. Her new photo book, 'In the Shadow of of the Pyramids', will also be on display and sale during the exhibition period.
