It's testament to how far indie-rock has progressed over the past decade that you'll no longer raise eyebrows if you've got a string section in your band. Ra Ra Riot have made a name for themselves by combining the arch pop stylings of buddies Vampire Weekend with lush orchestral textures, courtesy of resident violinist Rebecca Zeller and cellist Alexandra Lawn. After making their Japan debut as part of Asian Kung-Fu Generation's Nano-Mugen Circuit tour last year, they're returning to Tokyo for a one-off gig that we suspect is paving the way for an upcoming festival appearance over the summer.
