Review

Discover the time-honoured Japanese art of ‘tachiyomi’ (standing and reading) at this 24-hour bookshop, just across the street from the east exit of Shibuya Station. Yamashita Shoten's insane opening hours aren't the only thing it's got going for it, either: the shop has an impressive stock of niche style and subculture magazines, including plenty of back issues. Whether you're looking for hip fashion periodicals, dining guides or manga, you'll probably be able to find it here – though bear in mind that it'll all be in Japanese.
