Review

After honing his skills in Paris and the Basque Country, patissier Naohiro Todani returned to Tokyo in summer 2015 to open his own bakery and shop in flashy Shirokane. Staying true to his roots, Todani has made his Gâteau Basque the highlight of Maison D'Ahni's menu, inviting visitors to sample an almond flour-based cake filled with cherry jam and customised to tickle Tokyoites' well-developed appreciation for all things sweet. Baked up to ten times daily, the cake is always freshly available alongside familiar French pastries like fruit tarts and financiers.
