Restaurants & Cafés

Review

Found a good ten-minute walk from Kasai Station, Horaiken was opened by a chef who had earned his stripes at a Nagasaki restaurant of the same name, so you'll be sure to get authentic champon noodles at this golden oldie (in business since 1976). The tonkotsu (pork broth) champon here is addictive, and sees chewy noodles topped with a pile of veg including fried cabbage, onion, bean sprouts and carrot, plus squid, pork and fish sausages. For added impact, try seasonings like grated garlic or yuzu-kosho (both ¥100). Take-out is available for the champon and the sara udon (noodles on a plate), but you'll need to bring your own pot or heat-proof container.
