A small restaurant offering a new style of Chinese cuisine called ‘Teppan Chinese’, with the teppan (iron/steel plate used for cooking on) situated directly in front of approximately six counter seats – meaning that customers can enjoy watching their food as it’s cooked right in front of them. Plus, there’s nothing quite like the aromas and sizzling sounds of food as it cooks right in front of you to bring on an appetite. The food here has a refreshingly simple taste and is skilfully prepared. If you like fried rice, then the dish to try here is the ‘Oolong Chaba Iri Chahan’ (Chinese-style fried rice with Oolong tea leaves) – fried on the teppan until lightly scorched to give it a particularly enjoyable, slightly crunchy texture. Shang Wei seats approximately twenty customers, so reservations recommended.
