Review

This Japanese restaurant earned a one-star rating in the Michelin Guide Tokyo 2008 and 2009, and it’s known as a difficult place to get a table. Since it opened in 1980, it’s been known for thinking outside the box with food, ranging from traditional Japanese dishes with seasonal ingredients to creative modern cuisine. Muroi is famous for using mushrooms in autumn, which are gathered by the owner on a mountain in the neighbouring prefecture. More than 70 kinds of mushrooms are used, not only for Japanese dishes, but also for pastas and risottos. As a surprise at the end of meals, they sometimes they serve curry and rice instead of dessert.
