Innovative, idiosyncratic or just plain bonkers? You can expect a little bit of all of the above when volatile jazz pianist Dairo Suga descends on Pit Inn for a three-night residency, with a different lineup of musicians accompanying him on each evening. Saxophonist Eichi Hayashi and drummer Tamaya Honda do the honours on Thursday, turning things over to reedsman Akira Sakata and tub-thumper Shota Koyama on the Friday (with a little help from baritone saxman Ryuichi Yoshida and hand drum player Chizuru Ishii). Things wrap up on Saturday with a performance by Suga's regular trio, featuring Hikaru Toho on bass and Masatsugu Hattori on drums.
