It may say 'jazz' on the tin, but this ain't the kind of thing you'd hear at the Blue Note. Avant-garde hotspot SuperDeluxe has rounded up some of the more adventurous musicians from the Tokyo jazz scene for what looks to be a stellar evening of music. Chief among the attractions is the first ever performance by a new trio that unites guitarist Jim O'Rourke and drummer Tatsuhisa Yamamoto with German free jazz pioneer Peter Brötzmann (pictured). There'll also be sets by the Michiyo Yagi Double Trio – in which the koto player performs with two bassists and drummers apiece – and versatile double bassist Pearl Alexander, among others.
