It's unusual for Ageha's house-centric Ultra Music party to snag a special guest with an even longer resume than resident DJ Emma (career to date: 27 years and counting), but they seem to have managed it this month. Emma (not his real name) will be sharing a podium with one of the progenitors of acid house, DJ Pierre. Born Nathaniel Pierre Jones, the Chicago native was a member of squelchy mid-'80s unit Phuture (of 'Acid Trax' fame), and produced various anthems under monikers like Pierre's Phantasy Club and Phortune. Still hammering away at his Roland TB-303 today, he prefers to call his music 'afro acid' now – which sounds a lot more fun than some of the dance scenes he inadvertently helped spawn. (For which see: Daishi Dance, playing in the poolside Water zone.)
