Dang, has it really been over two decades since 'Groove is in the Heart' first assaulted our eardrums? Deee-Lite's breakout hit (and, let's be honest, the only thing they're remembered for now) also helped launch the career of one Towa Tei. The Japanese DJ and producer had headed to the US in 1987 to study graphic design, and returned to his native country seven years later as a bona fide celebrity. Next month, he'll release his sixth solo album to date, Sunny, which features collaborations with Cibo Matto mainstay Miho Hatori and YMO's Haruomi Hosono, among others. The latter will be appearing as one of the guest DJs at this album launch party, as will like-minded electro boffins Yoshinori Sunahara and Kenji Takimi. Of course, one of Tei's other collaborators will also be in town this weekend, but we can but speculate about whether she'll be dropping by.
