Sonicmania

Though the past couple of Summer Sonics came complete with an all-night dance party tacked on, they were haphazard affairs – the kind of thing you went to because you'd missed your last train home, rather than because you simply had to see Busy P. This year, promoters Creativeman are doing it properly. Sonicmania will be held at Makuhari Messe the night before Summer Sonic proper, with a crowd-pleasing headliner double whammy of Underworld and Primal Scream – the latter performing acid house classic Screamadelica in its entirety. As a concession to modernity, the lineup is rounded out by arena drum'n'bass stars Chase and Status, turntable ace A-Trak, electro icon Vitalic and others. There's also a nostalgia-drenched third room that will see DJ sets by the likes of Alan McGee, Peter Hook and Depeche Mode's Andy Fletcher.
