Time Out says

Represented by artists like Georges Rouault, Henri Matisse and André Derain, the Fauvist school of painting blossomed briefly in the early 20th century, leaving a lasting mark on later styles such as Cubism. A lesser known aspect of the movement was its principal characters' interest in ceramics, particularly the style practised by Parisian André Metthey (1871-1920). Around 70 of this obscure master's powerful, dynamic pieces are now on display in Japan for the first time, making for a rare opportunity to discover another side of the Fauvist movement.
