Redevelopment in the Toyosu area is proceeding at a frantic pace, but every now and then new, temporarily unused spaces open up among all the construction. That's exactly what's happened in front of the Yurikamome's Shijomae Station, with landowner Tokyo Gas turning a slab of ground on the Harumi Canal side of Toyosu into an 'art field' decorated with three gigantic works. In addition to a colourfully painted 30m wall, the pieces include 200 life-sized animal panels created by artist Shinta Inoue. These will be illuminated at night, with light virtuoso Kyota Takahashi's latest creation projected across the area every evening after sunset. Upcoming events are announced on the official Facebook page, and there are also plans for additional pieces to be added throughout summer, so go ahead and stop by whenever you're in the area.
